The next great event came some fifteen years after the completion of the Village Hidden in the Smoke and would leave the people of the land of Ash and their resident Shinobi recounting the tale for decades to come. With a great tremor rumbling through the crust of the earth and thick plumes of acidic smoke eclipsing the sun, the great Hinabe-yama began to awake from its centuries-long dormancy.

The history of Kemurigakure, the Village Hidden in the Smoke, finds its roots several generations back from the current day in the chilly Northern waters in which the Land of Ash resides. A group of wandering exiles and disenfranchised shinobi, with too little information to need to be found by tracker nin, known as the 'Boumeisha', led by former Hidden Rain Jounin Morioka Kouuse, wandered the known lands alone with no place to permanently call home. Built at the foot of the great volcano Hinabe-yama in the tiny island nation of the Land of Ash is the Shinobi 'Village Hidden in the Smoke.' Lead by the noble 2nd Kaibunkage, the Smoke Village operates ever at the risk of annihilation by Hinabe-yama, yet uses the fires of adversity to temper their skills. Shinobi of all shapes, ranks and ages call this village their home. Some dream of power, others of status, respect or wealth, and others simply of following their way of the ninja into the future. Yet together they remain united, together they are stronger than their numbers alone... together they are the ninja of the hidden smoke!

Mission Statement: This 'club' was a the result of a thought I had at a 'create your own ninja' contest over on one of the anime news sites. I, like many others here on DA, enjoy creating Original Characters for existing properties, such as 'Naruto.' Thus it is my goal here with this Hidden Village to offer the good good artists and writers here on DA the chance to build their own shinobi village from the ground up. The Ninja, the Kaibunkage, the rogues, the enemies, the symbol, even the village itself...through contests (both art and fiction) and artist-submitted work, we shall build our own village in the world of 'Naruto' to be a source of inspiration and a place of creativity for others.

FIRST CONTEST: Design Kemurigakure's Symbol

Like any good shinobi village, we, the shinobi of Kemurigakure, will need an individual symbol to identify us. Thus, I leave it to you, to come up with a design on a Hitai-ate (forehead band) for our village's Shinobi to wear.

UPDATE: I've decided to keep the contest going until March 18. Please send any entries to me upon completion via note and I'll post the links!

Also, I won't accept any Shinobi Genin or above until we have our symbol, or any Chunin or Jounin until we have a uniform design (more details on this later). I will, however, accept Academy students and civilians for our village in the meantime.
